The Merchant House - Ludlow

The Merchant House is home to Shaun and Anja Hill who cook and serve respectively, Tuesday - Saturday evenings plus lunch, Friday and Saturday. The fixed-price menu gives a small choice over three courses; an eclectic mix, based on personal taste and sound cooking techniques, rather than any particular country's cuisine. A unifying feature is a core of excellent ingredients, organic where feasible and carefully chosen.

Service attempts to be both informal and reasonably efficient. There are no dress code or similar pomposities to contend with.

However, smokers are banished to the drawing room to indulge their habit.
Journalists has been favourable so far, and every independent food guide has awarded the Merchant House a gong of some description. This site will not offend its visitors with smarmy overstatements of what's on offer.
